A Japanese Businessman,for example will conduct himself differently at a formal meeting with a customer,a meeting with his boss and a night out with his colleagues.
Ba o wakimaeru refers to the ability to sense what the proper behavior is in a given time and place. An ability to “read situations” and act accordingly is key to mastering Japanese etiquette.
