「型」 Kata

Form

Kata is about following ceremonies and etiquette correctly.
It is a form of behavior appropriate to a particular place and time.
You can see kata at work in all aspects of Japanese life.
The exchange of name cards,the pre-bout rituals of sumo,even the mundane act of pouring and receiving a cup of sake-these are all examples of kata.
Kata also influences the way the japanese work.
They do not like to proceed by trial and error;they prefer to master the kata ーthe best way to do a thinkーbefore they start.
